From Wine Research to Inspiring Innovation

Thanks to its research and development work, Enartis helps wine companies stay on top of present and future challenges. Calcium instability is one aspect Irene Tozzi, Technical Sales Representative for Enartis mentions.

Previously assistant winemaker for the Bragato Research Winery, Irene is excited to be inspiring innovation in her new role with Enartis. Serving for the South Island, Irene focuses on sustainability and the continuous innovation process in the industry.

“We hope that we can help wineries find the best solutions for them and their wines”.

“Besides the logistic side of it, I offer support to the wineries when it comes to finding what can work well with their wines and why. I promote trials with new products, gathering useful data to find out what works best for the customer in a given context or to suggest possible solutions to reach the desired goal.”

“My previous role was 100% focused on micro-vinifications and science. Small-scale winemaking and experiments are useful tools that I still use in my new role to prove the efficacy of a product for example, or to promote commercial trials,” Irene says.

Irene says she can also help wineries become more sustainable. “To give an example, we can help wine companies reduce power, water consumption and CO2 emissions by avoiding cold stabilization and using potassium poly aspartate instead.”

“The scientific approach always comes in handy to troubleshoot a problem and target the best possible solutions. My previous role also helped me understand better the winemaking trends, challenges, and interests.

With the move from BRI to Enartis, Irene Tozzi also moved a stone throw from MRC’s Budge Street Campus to Grove Town Park. She says “the place has a nice vibe and people, and a great garden for sunny days! Plus it’s great to be able to have a coffee and a chat when working solo most of the time.”

Enartis boasts a long tradition of being an international players in the industry for winemaking products, improving winery processes, and offering comprehensive technical support and customer service.

“To date, the company has introduced more than 300 specialized products, including yeast, tannins, enzymes, fermentation nutrients, bacteria, stabilizers, and clarifying and fining agents,” Irene says.
